Fans are furious that Celine Dion isn’t on 200 greatest singers of all time list

One fan expressed their upset at the omission. “They better change the name of that list to ‘Ranking The 200 Greatest Singers of All Time After The Great Céline Dion,’” they wrote.

Any “greatest singers” list that doesn’t include Celine Dion is simply wrong lmao there is no discussion to be had

Alongside a clip of Dion singing, another said: “You can’t have a greatest singers list without Céline Dion. She’s one of the greatest vocalists of our generation.”

Elsewhere, a fan wrote: “Celine Dion doesn’t need no damn Rolling Stone to tell her she’s one of the best vocalists in the world, she makes her own lists.”

How the hell have @RollingStone missed @celinedion – have they hit their head? Not a great start to 2023 😂😂 https://t.co/6SIPaHyC3Q

A tweet sent out later by Rolling Stone read: “Before you start scrolling (and commenting), keep in mind that this is the Greatest Singers list, not the Greatest Voices List. Talent is impressive; genius is transcendent.”

The fans’ reactions come weeks after the singer revealed that she’s been living with a neurological disorder called stiff person syndrome, and that she isn’t well enough to resume her tour next month as planned.

Dion’s shows from February 24-April 11 have been rescheduled to 2024, while the shows from May 31-July 17 have been cancelled altogether.

Her concerts scheduled for August to October 2023 are not affected. See the list of new tour dates here.

Celine Dion reschedules UK and European tour due to health issues

“Hi everyone – well, here we are again and I’m so sorry that we have to change our tour plans for Europe one more time,” the star told fans in an emotional video posted to Instagram. “First we had to move the shows because of the pandemic, now this is my health issues that is causing us to postpone some shows.

“Unfortunately, we have to cancel some too. The good news is that I’m doing a little bit better. It’s going very slow and it’s very frustrating for me. I’m getting treatment from my doctors, taking medication, but I’m still experiencing some spasms and it’s taking a lot longer for me to recover than I had hoped.”

She continued: “I need to be in top shape when I’m on stage. I honestly can’t wait. But I’m just not there yet. Just telling you how I feel – and I wanted you to know that I’m sorry for this news. I know you’ve all waited so long for the concerts and I appreciate your loyalty. By now I am convinced that you should be so fed up with all of this and waiting for so long. But all I can say is that I’m doing my very best to get back to the level that I need to be so that I can give 100 per cent at my shows – cos that’s what you deserve.”

Dion thanked fans for the continued support and messages of love, and ended the video by declaring her support for Ukraine. “I hope and pray that this war ends soon,” she said. “Sending you all my love and prayers for peace.”

Earlier this year, Dion cancelled the North American leg of the ‘Courage’ world tour due to the same health issues. The Canadian singer said she had been suffering from “severe and persistent muscle spasms” since last year, which a message on her official website said were “preventing her from performing”.

Meanwhile, an unauthorised film about Dion received a standing ovation at the 2021 Cannes film festival. The biopic was directed by and stars Valerie Lemercier, who plays the singer at each stage of her life, including her childhood. Due to not being able to secure the rights to Dion’s name, Lemercier goes by Aline Dieu in the film.

Celine Dion cancels North American tour due to continued health issues

Sharing the news on Instagram, the star wrote: “I was really hoping that I’d be good to go by now, but I suppose I just have to be more patient and follow the regimen that my doctors are prescribing. There’s a lot of organising and preparation that goes into our shows, and so we have to make decisions today which will affect the plans two months down the road.

“I’ll be so glad to get back to full health, as well as all of us getting past this pandemic, and I can’t wait to be back on stage again. Meanwhile, I’ve been very touched by all the words of encouragement that everyone’s been sending to me on social media. I feel your love and support and it means the world to me.”

At present, Dion’s UK and European tour is still set to begin in Birmingham on May 25.

Her Las Vegas residency was due to start in November 2021, but a month prior the singer had to postpone the shows, telling fans she was “heartbroken”.

In December, Dion‘s new album ‘Courage’ landed the biggest chart fall in history for an album debuting at Number One on Billboard.

The Canadian singer topped the Billboard 200 chart with her comeback collection, selling 113,000 equivalent units. Of that sum, almost all were pure sales, as the set actually sold 109,000 physical copies (boosted by a bundle offer tying albums to tickets for Dion’s Courage World Tour). The following week, the album fell out of the top 100.
